I've been meaning to update my blog, but haven't had the chance until now. Busy, busy, busy!!! Anyway, here are some pictures from a couple of weekends ago. The chill of fall was in the air, and these adorable children were a thrill to photograph at an old homestead in Virginia.

This little fellow was just too sweet and cute for words...can you tell?

LOVE this expression!!

I am crazy about up close shots...whether it be flowers or faces, there is so much to see. And you aren't distracted by anything else in the picture.

Cute little cousins!!!

"Come said the wind to
the leaves one day,
Come o're the meadows
and we will play.
Put on your dresses
scarlet and gold,
For summer is gone
and the days grow cold."

-A Children's Song of the 1880's

This was my favorite out of a set of shots I recently took of this precious little girl. I think that Autumn is such a magical time for children, at least it was for me when I was little.

I recently got together with Brittany to do some maternity photos. We had the best time! Aunt Becky and I really enjoyed carrying the fainting sofa out into the field! Ha! It was so worth it because we got some great shots with it.

Aunt Becky collects everything vintage, so someone just happened to see the vintage baby shoes and we wanted to do something with them. This photo ended up being one of my favorites.

I love the belly shots!!

I wanted to share some pictures from Saturday that I did of a beautiful mother and daughter and their sweet dogs, Tucker and Annabelle.

They are so gorgeous and so fun to photograph! The camera loved the both of them, and so did I!

Tucker and Annabelle are very photogenic, don't you think?

Along the way, I am slowly developing my own vision for photography. There are many different styles and approaches to photographing people, and it is fun sifting through it all to discover what I love to do the most. Trying new things is a fun part of the journey. I still seem to be drawn to black and white photography although I have tried and enjoyed using color. My eye always stops and my heart stirs when I see a beautifully timeless black and white photograph.

This lovely family was a joy to be with and photograph in downtown Kingsport. I had so much fun with Amy, Solomon, and Anna! Aren't they gorgeous?

Beautiful....that's what I can say about this little girl. I mentioned the fun of taking pictures of different people in my previous post. Each person exudes their own sense of self and personality, and once comfortable, who they are just seems to come out....the camera loves it, and so do I.

I love photographing a wide range of emotion and expression. From serious and reflective, to happy and childlike....I am fascinated with seeing it all, and I feel so blessed to be able to photograph it.
With photography, one of the things that makes it so incredibly fun is the challenge and new places and new places. I took my daughter and her friend downtown for a little bit of urban fun, and boy, was it fun! I do so much with black and white (and I'm a huge lover of black and white photography), but I really loved the color and atmosphere here. Fun, fun, fun! And the girls were a blast!

I recently had a session at Alandale Mansion and got some of my favorite shots to date. Both mother and daughter are beautiful and were so fun to work with!

BEFORE

AFTER

I've been needing to update my blog. I've not posted anything in a few months, so it's time to catch up!

I love taking pictures in the country, and these are a couple from a session with the Woods family that were taken at my favorite barn.

My husband is in a band with his dad and his brother. Last night I did some pictures with the band and this one is one of my favorites. My father-n-law is in the middle and my hubbie is on the right with his brother on the left. They do mostly classic rock and they have a lot of fun together.

Jamie, Travis, and Peanut

I had a great time Saturday with them, and my children LOVED Peanut. Now they are really begging me for a puppy!

As you can see here, I love black and white photography. I love the contrast and the drama that it presents, and I am drawn to shots that reflect intensity. Ben needed no prodding. He seemed to know exactly what to do without any direction at all. I love this shot of him.

Love this one as well. I get lost in both of them.

I had such a great time taking these pictures. There were so many that I loved and wanted to share, but I think I was able to narrow it down to a few of my favorites! I will definately be posting more from this session later.
